Diabetes Talkfest Is Owned And Operated By Coast 2 Coast Diabetics, A Volunteer Run Organization Previously Owned and Operated By Gina Capone Of New York, And Jon Schlaman Of California.
Since the dematerialization and disappearing act of the original Diabetes Talkfest website, our mission is to preserve the original content and intent of the Diabetes Talkfest website.
We believe that Diabetes Talkfest website is worth preserving.
This website is currently operated on volunteer basis, and we hope to continue doing so for years to come.
Here is the original mission statement:
Our mission: is to provide information and support to all people affected by Diabetes, Coast to Coast, and around the world, with particular focus on “the forgotten generation”: Young adults (ages 18-35) with diabetes and young parents of diabetics. Our primary purpose is to create friendships and support through the use of message boards and chat rooms. Our secondary mission is to offer a collection of fun and trendy diabetes items that may be difficult to find otherwise. A percentage of every sale is donated to the Diabetes Research Institute and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Center in the hopes of finding a cure.
Jon and Gina (below), who met on a Diabetes Message Board, realized there was a shortage of good, fun, diabetes related sites on the internet. Although never meeting in person or communicating in any way other than message boards and IM’s, Gina and Jon formed a lasting friendship and business partnership that has existed since February of 2002. Gina has been living with type 1 diabetes since November, 2000. Jon’s son has had type 1 diabetes since February, 1998. Although they live over 3000 miles away, they were brought together by diabetes. It is their dream to unite as many diabetics as possible to share information and experience in dealing with this difficult condition.
P.S. We have just upgraded to WordPress 5.2.2 running Twenty Sixteen theme Version: 2.0. Let me know if anything is broken. Thanks in advance.
