But I leave comments and trackbacks all the time! I don’t get much back though.
Howevef, I do feel that many of the Type 1 bloggers are not receptive to input from a Type 2 blogger, even if that Type 2 IS pumping insulin, etc.
Finally, I do admit I tend to stay away from blogs that have an agenda other than sharing common experiences. I have blogged about that.

I do have an agenda to spread awareness and support, for type 1 as well as type 2…I am trying to build a community for diabetes bloggers as well as people who do not blog and want to join in a chat or post a comment on a message board…
I make T-shirts so that I can help raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute…I also do things outside the Internet such as volunteering for the Diabetes Research Institute- I create all of their invitations for fundraising events and I am also on the committee for IMPACT-(Immediate Priority a Cure Today) which is the young professional division of the DRI. We held our 3rd annual “A CURE FOR SURE” event September 28th 2005 in NYC which raised $45,000…
Also, I volunteer at my local diabetes center as a mentor for young children that have just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
See now if you didn’t post that comment maybe you would have never known that about me

I have a counter on my blog, which I added when I thought that there was nobody looking at it. What I found was that I was getting hits, just no interaction. There’s a small group (10-15, and Kathleen is one of them) people that are pretty active. Blogging has it’s advantages, but it’s not setup for interaction. Message boards are better for that, and live chats are even better. (BOTH of which are on diabetestalkfest!)
Yes, I agree that there is this undercurrent of T1’s not wanting to listen to T2’s. There is a overlap of common experiances between those two groups which T1’s should realize. (Testing, insulin, the emotion of diagnosis, dealing with doctors, etc) That being said, I have ran across some T2’s that don’t know the difference between T1 and T2, and they make some assumptions that make T1s frusterated. (Specifically with insulin doseages and ratios.) As a T1, I have felt that way, but I would rather try and educate on the differences rather then push away the T2.
As far as agendas…..can you cite an example or a link to your blog posting about that? I am not following what you mean.

I’m all for a day of diabetes blogging.. just not tomorrow.. its the one year anniversary of B’s diagnosis!

I felt like such a soloist until a few months ago when I started a diabetes blog. Then all these other d-bloggers showed up out of, seemingly, no where! The network of online diabetes bloggers (who I refer to as The O.C. [for Online Community]) has been tremendously supportive. But I appreciate people who write about both diabetes and the other facets of their lives. It’s nice to read about more than just A1cs and basal rates. I like knowing that these other diabetics are Living in all these different ways.
We all need each other, to some extent.
It’s comforting to know you are all out there.

Maybe its harder for me because I am new still, and noone has discovered my blog or maybe people just dont like reading it lol

As I awoke this morning, I wondered whether I would go anywhere. Do you ever wake and feel unmotivated to move? Anyway, this was me. I still feel half asleep. I am tired, sleepy, coming down with something or just depressed. It is hard to tell.
I am hoping that as the day continues, I will snap out of it. Morning reading of 84…not bad considering how variable my diet and exercise routine has been lately. Yet I feel unmotivated to proclaim any sort of victory. It is just another day in the life.

Gina,
I think that the diabetic blogging community, or as Kerri calls it, The O.C. , is still so very new. There are a lot of folks out there just beginning to discover their “blogging” voice, let alone, their “commenting” voice.
And maybe this is like going to support group meetings, you know. Where many sit and listen (or in this case, read) without commenting. Possibly afraid that what they might offer (because they’re so new to the support group, or The O.C.) might be misunderstood. Or because right now, they simply need to read.
Or maybe (for those readers who do not blog) it’s like raising your hand in a crowded classroom. Posting a comment that could be read by many people can be intimidating to some.
I don’t know.
But I do think your D-Blogger unite day is a fine idea– something that might help open up the “dia- logue” a bit more. And most importantly, help folks feel more supported in their day-to-day struggle with this damn disease.
Count me in!

Sorry I’m late to this discussion, but I’m so glad we’re having it!
I, too, often feel that I’m blogging my heart out without much feedback from readers. My stats tell they’re out there, but I sure wish they’d post more comments.
Anyway, when’s our D-blogger Unite Day? I’m in!!
