Today’s Challenge: Post Secret

Diabetes is exhausting

In case you didn’t know.

Living with a chronic illness is one of the toughest challenges I have ever had to deal with in my life. At times it has consumed every part of my being, which makes me want to give up. And I have given up, I threw up my white flag and surrendered. I was so ready to just give my life up, just like that. The day in and out of having diabetes can burn you out. The physical and emotional part of this disease can be so mentally EXHAUSTING.

You have to worry about what you are doing during the day, if you exercise you have to make sure you plan your insulin and carbs correctly, if you plan a trip you have to make sure you have an emergency kit with you at all times, if you plan for a family you have to be in safe levels for conception. If you work you have to worry if you are going to go low at work, on the way to work, in a subway, on a plane and on your wedding day, while you exercise… Ugh thinking about this all is making my head spin!!

Diabetes is a 24/7/365 life-time job that you can’t quit or get fired from. You have to think about this disease from the minute you wake up till you go to sleep.

Phew, I am EXHAUSTED, are you after reading this?

Oh yea BTW, there is no cure for diabetes, and I didn’t get it from eating too much candy!!
